Some Like It Hot: 2016 Huntsville/Madison County Restaurant Week

Webster defines gluttony as, “excess in eating; extravagant indulgence in the appetite for food.” I say, “Pufffft!” August brings Huntsville Restaurant Week (HRW)! A chance to try some of Huntsville/Madison County’s best of the locally-owned dining scene.  This is our biggest year yet with 50+ (subject to change) diverse participants. Wanna re-read that? Yes, 50+!

The 5th annual Huntsville/Madison County Restaurant Week will be August 12-21. During the 10 tasty days of deals (yeah, we know that’s longer than a week but who’s complaining when we are talking food?), participating eateries will be offering fixed-price specials that are sure to tempt you. The six categories are two-course lunches at $5, $10 and $15 and 3-course dinners at $10, $20 and $30. Each place decides how many of those categories they will serve.

Returning for the second year is the Bonus Bites category. For our favorite places that do not serve a full lunch or dinner, they can offer specials in this category. Bonus Bites are anything but lunch or dinner—think unbelievable chocolate assortments, tantalizing desserts, and wake-me-up breakfasts!

Helpful hints for making the most of Huntsville Restaurant Week:

Start making your strategic dining plan now! Visit now and often.

Do you have a favorite food truck? Check our website to see if they are participating. Many are!

Are tickets required for HRW? NO!

Are reservations required? NO, unless it is a place where reservations are usually a good idea any way or one of the special events.

Don’t forget! Everywhere you go, use the hashtag #DineHsv. You will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate at participating restaurants. Each day, we will be randomly drawing a winner.

If you do the math: 10 days =10 lunches + 10 dinners= 20 meals + Bonus Bites! Looks like you are going to have to double up to hit them all. Many places are offering more than one special! Allow me to suggest a simple and obvious solution: gather a group of friends, make a priority list, each order something different and share.

I hope this has your mouth watering and your tummy grumbling. Enjoy Huntsville Restaurant Week to the fullest! You can strap on your running shoes later.

The reverse of that is her desire to travel—if she hasn’t been, she wants to go. Actually those go hand in hand—wherever she goes, she spreads the gospel of Huntsville! Pam is the blessed mom of 3 very talented, intelligent, busy and beautiful teenagers/preteens (and 2 canine babies). In her spare time, she enjoys . . . wait! Refer to the previous sentences.
