This past week I was invited to stay at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH)’s Bevill Conference Center & Hotel. The Bevill Center, located on Sparkman Avenue, provides convenient access to local attractions on University Drive. Nearby local restaurants include Maggie Meyers Irish Pub, Papa Gyros, and Wintzell’s Oyster House just to name a few. Explore the Salty Nut Brewery, numerous shopping centers, and the Shakalaka trampoline park located just around the corner. The Bevill Center is also a short drive to I-565; good for a quick trip to downtown Huntsville or Madison.
The hotel itself is very cozy, and the main thing that impressed me were all of the sitting areas to read a book or meet up with family and friends. Even though it is a conference center, you DO NOT have to be attending a conference to stay there. Though if you are scheduling a conference or event, there are several meeting rooms, classrooms, and computer labs available. I have to brag on the staff…all of the employees were very friendly and helpful.
The Conference Center & Hotel is adjacent to UAH, a tier-one research university which has multiple partnerships with industry and the federal government. With your hotel stay, you receive free access to the UAH fitness center. There is also a pretty Japanese garden in the back of the hotel with a short walking trail, and more outside seating.
Some other amenities of the Bevill Center include a complimentary shuttle within a 10 mile radius of the hotel and to the Huntsville International Airport. The Gardenview Café provides complimentary hot continental breakfast Monday-Friday, and a regular continental breakfast on the weekend. On Wednesdays, the Café hosts a guest mixer in which registered guests receive a free meal and two complimentary drinks, which seemed to be very popular.
Overall, the UAH Bevill Conference Center & Hotel is a great place to stay if you are in town for a conference or a class at UAH, or if you want to stay at a hidden gem located between Huntsville and Madison.

Hi, I’m Jess! I’m originally from Atlanta, but after graduating from Auburn University, I now call the Rocket City home. While I’m not doing my 8-5, you can find me at my blog, Sweet Tea in the South, hanging out with my lab mix Riley, or starting a craft/project around the house. I do my best to stay active and try new things. I spend an exorbitant amount of time on Pinterest. My current loves are book club, sweet tea (of course), gouda cheese, Downton Abbey, traveling, yogalites, and Pelmeny from the Neon Lily food truck
